The Social Media Club in UAE conducted its 2nd meetup session about ‘Youth & Social media” in the presence of a number social media professionals, entrepreneurs, students and social media enthusiasts. This as well as some media figures like Abdullah Ismail and Diala Ali.
The session been conducted by Saeed AlNazari & Asma Aljanahi from the club board members. The session was interactive and started by comparing our social media consumption currently and previously, the negative and positive aspects of social media, as well as advices and tips to youth. It was also interesting comparing the social media consumption across different generations. This been followed by some figures about social media users in UAE in which 40% of the users are aging between 25-34 Years Old.
Asma shared with the audience some successful case studies about youth in UAE like the volunteering initiative 1971. The social media club is aiming at provide awareness on social media consumption for youth as it has very strong impact on their lives, said Asma.
Towards the end of the session, Saeed Alnazari initiated a debate with the audience. Weather they are with or against the usage of social media as a channel for gender communication and marriage. The debate was very interesting as there been a variation in believes and concepts among audience.
On this occasion, Heba AlSamt the president and founder of the club stressed that the role of the club is to create a mechanism and platform to exchange information and best practices as well as organizing such meetups and sessions to raise awareness in this digital era, noting at the same time that there is a great responsibility on the club’s board members to create a platform that will benefit individuals in the social media field. In addition, Saeed AlNazari and Asma Aljanahi expressed their happiness on the feedback and interaction they received from the attendees and are excited about the launch of the club series of meetups.
