Jumia, the leading e-commerce website in Egypt announced a sales increase by up to 5 times the normal daily sales in the first hour of Black Friday, breaking Black Friday record with 20,000 items ordered in the first hour. Jumia started “Black Friday” offering special deals and discounts of up to 75% across its large assortment of products, including electronic devices, home and living products, fashion, service deals, sport products and toys.

This year Jumia’s Black Friday disrupted the online e-commerce offers which provided great saving day for all customers. Jumia website traffic increased by 600% from last year’s Black Friday.  “We’re energized by the year over year success of Black Friday on Jumia. In the coming period Jumia’s main focus will be about fulfilling orders and customer satisfaction as our target is not only offering unique discounts, but also reaching the maximum level of customer satisfaction and trust,” commented Hesham Safwat, CEO, Jumia Egypt.

About Black Friday

The “Black Friday” originated from the U.S. and from the phenomenon that takes place after the day of thanksgiving when retailers see a pike in sales. The day became the biggest shopping day of the year with retailers offering discounts and special deals. Now, “Black Friday” is a global movement and Africans search for the best deals and discounts they would otherwise not get on a regular day.
