Game of Thrones season finale: Water bottle appears onscreen

You’d think after the coffee cup debacle of two episodes ago, someone would’ve checked the rest of the series. They did not.

HBO owned the coffee cup mistake, even issuing a cheeky statement that the coffee should not have been there because Daenerys had actually ordered an herbal tea.

Starbucks got an estimated $2.3 billion in free advertising [value of all the buzz] from ‘Game of Thrones’ cup mistake. The funny part is, it turned out it wasn’t even a Starbucks cup! #GOT #Starbucks

Again?!

For the second time this season, eagle-eyed Game of Thrones fans have spotted another anachronistic liquid carrier where it shouldn’t be.

This time, a disposable water bottle half-tucked behind the leg of John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly on the series.

As Twitterer @BethIsLoco first pointed out, King’s Landing appears to have done some dimension-hopped bartering with the chancellor of Poland Springs.

Social Media Reaction:

For all that this season of Game of Thrones has been a near-constant source of internet outrage, the water bottle errors provide proof of the show’s hefty contribution to social media and internet culture.

On a separate note, more than a million people have signed a petition urging showrunners to “remake ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 with competent writers.”
