After the end of the Ramadan marketing race, summer may typically be a slow time for marketing, but that hasn’t stopped some savvy brands from using this less-competitive time period to launch creative campaigns that stand out.

While Vodafone and Pepsi are focusing on Amr Diab’s new album teaser; for other brands, summer can be a great time to get customers engaged, as warm weather leaves many feeling energized and spontaneous.

Last week, a huge rubber duck was spotted in Cairo, why?

Mountain View seems to be fascinated by giant creatures, after bringing Hulk to lead their Ramadan Campaign few years ago, Mountain View starts its summer campaign with a big hit and brought a huge rubber dunk into the Nile.

The reputable real estate giant has come to use a new approach by creating a Giant Rubber Duck to travel its way through Cairo’s Nile, and finally reach its summer destination at Mountain View Ras El Hekma in Sahel.

Giant Duck in the Nile or, Guerrilla Marketing?

You’re already aware that your customers are the lifeblood of your business. And that’s why it’s important that you engage with them. Some brands are seeking ways to engage better with customers but others want to keep their customers surprised and delighted.

If your summer campaign did not leave something remarkable to be remembered, perhaps it’s time you get a bit more creative and when the classic strategies aren’t creating enough engagement, you send in the guerrillas or a giant yellow duck!

The “True Essence of Summer” Campaign:

Summer is most people’s favorite season because the weather allows them to live spontaneously. Once in awhile, in a stressful lifestyle, we need reminding of what summer really means.

As we enter July, the most eventful month of the summer, Mountain View created The Giant Duck Aka “El Batta” concept to revive our childhood memories. And guess what? Its also the unique Guerrilla Marketing tactic used by Mountain View as part of “True Essence of Summer” campaign.

Implementing Guerrilla marketing is a great alternative to traditional marketing. The Giant Rubber Duck concept is meant to thrive on original thinking and creativity, where imagination and ingenuity beat out big budgets.

Fun Fact:

In 1992, a Chinese cargo ship travelling from Hong Kong to United States lost 350 containers overboard during a storm. Among the lost containers were a range of bath toys including ducks.

It is claimed that some 28,800 ducks were released into the ocean and they have been travelling around the world for at least a decade. The Rubber Duck idea has been always recognized around the world as a source of happiness and many countries across the world have used the rubber duck concept for different purposes and in many different ways in that context.

Mountain View, took the duck as an emblem of happiness one step further via creating an Egyptian version inspired by the happy childhood memories from a nostalgic point of view, as a symbol of our childhood first water toy, reviving the true essence of summer as we knew it.

How Social Media Celebrated “El Batta”?

When a guerrilla marketing campaign is executed successfully, you’ll probably hear about it. The huge duck moving in the Nile created a noticeable buzz on social media platforms on the hashtag “#لو_كنت_بطه_هتعمل_ايه “.

Happy memories are what make people feel more optimistic about about their lives; and the Giant Duck campaign has come delivering an experience that helps us all relive our happy childhood memories, and to bring a smile to our faces.

SICO Technology launches the first promo video for Nile X Smartphone

As the launch of the Egyptian-made phone comes near, their marketing campaign has kicked into gear, and with that comes their newest video release.

A 49 SEC to the point video announced the release of the first Android phone that is actually “Made In Egypt”

The video starts with a technology marked pyramid that opens up and showcases the phone’s features and lists the phone’s specs that highly matters to any phone user such as the internal memory, the display screen size, the dual camera resolution, internal memory, processor and Android version.

The phone coming out of the pyramid implies that it is the outcome of a long journey full of challenges that only Egyptians could overcome and flash out what they reaped in pride.

The usage of the pyramid is of course a classic cliché but somehow it fits the occasion. Also showing Cairo’ Tower on the phone’s screen gave and extra sense of a home grown product.

Despite the cliché the video shows a very attractive modernly designed phone that promises to meet a lot of high end expectations. That’s a Jack pot but has to be proven on ground.

The video has done it’s job but still the phone has to deliver a satisfying user experience to Egyptian customers who won’t go easy on the phone or it’s after sales services. Yes they are willing to buy and are also determined to criticize…viscously…so…good luck.

Football fans around the world might have stopped what they were doing to watch the World Cup draw in the Moscow’s Kremlin, but they certainly didn’t stop posting their reactions to social media as the World Cup draw started on.

The Pharaohs are back at the World Cup for the first time since 1990. They qualified with a game to spare, but in dramatic circumstances all the same, with Mohamed Salah sealing their place with a 94th-minute penalty winner against Congo.

Throwback ➤ Road to Russia 2018: The most prepared brands for the historical moment

Having netted a staggering 71 per cent of Egypt’s goals during Russia 2018 qualifying, and scored in every one of their third-round victories, the speedy, skilful Mohamed Salah is firmly established as Egypt’s key man.

Essam El Hadary will turn 45 in January and could become the oldest player to participate at a World Cup. The Egypt goalkeeper is one of only seven players to have appeared in six different preliminary competitions.

World Cup 2018 Draw: Who will Egypt face in Russia?

Russia were picked out first as the host nation and were given Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay. Egypt were handed a favourable draw for the 2018 World Cup in Russia after avoiding Argentina, Brazil and Germany.

And the opening game of the 2018 World Cup? It’s Russia vs Saudi Arabia which by current world rankings could be between the two worst teams at the tournament.

Group A (Russia – Saudi Arabia – Egypt – Uruguay) and Group H (Poland – Senegal – Colombia – Japan) are the two groups with teams from four different continents.

Egypt to prepare for the tournament:

Egypt are hoping they can go further this time around, having demonstrated great defensive capabilities during their qualifying campaign although Argentinean boss Hector Cuper was heavily criticised for what many deem the team’s lack of entertaining football.

The five World Cup teams from Africa will get $500,000 each from the continental governing body to help prepare for the tournament.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) says the money is ‘mainly to strengthen and improve the technical supervision of each team. The football federations of Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia will also get $1.5 million from FIFA toward their preparations.
