We love creative adverts, once we see one we have to pause and watch every single second of it and enjoy it. Unfortunately, we don’t see many creative adverts being released, and when we do, the execution is not the best. This is the reason why we always pay attention to creative adverts with good execution and give them a shout-out.

This brings us to today’s topic, which is the brand-new advert by Doritos that needs to be seen. 

 

Doritos: Are You Up For The Challenge?

Yesterday Doritos launched its newest campaign to promote 3 new flavors in a very creative way.

The famous chips brand released 3 new flavors that are extremely spicy and it delivered the message through a very creative idea. The advert grabs the attention the second it starts as it starts with a man complaining that his adopted baby dragon doesn’t breathe fire until the moment it tries the 3 flaming hot flavors and suddenly breathing fire is all it can do.

 

We have to admit that the advert presented a very unique and creative idea that we were extremely longing for. 

As there are some people who love eating spicy food, Doritos challenged them if they can handle the 3 new flavors. The brand delivered this challenge to its audience by showing the dragon breathing fire right after it tried the flavors. 

 

A Round of Applause For The VFX

We barely see artists mastering VFX as many adverts had a great idea yet the VFX was an epic fail! This time, the VFX was implemented brilliantly. 

If we were to count how many adverts were negatively criticized due to their horrible VFX, we wouldn’t be able to get the actual number. This is why, the VFX in Doritos was the best. The effort is incredibly obvious, not just in the dragon’s shape but also in how it moves and the fire. We all know that dragons don’t exist but with this little one, you probably wished you had a similar one. 

This is why from the design of the dragon to the execution, it is all top-notch.

 

Why Does The Advert Stand Out?

We can all agree that these days most of the adverts are very similar and they don’t bring something new to the table, but Doritos’ advert is different.

Most of the brands play it safe, they either use a jingle-based, nostalgia, or endorsement ( collaborating with celebrities). We have been waiting for an advert with an actual idea that is very creative, relevant, and definitely not repetitive. 

This is why the advert went viral once it was released, it is new and gave the audience what they wanted. Also, the advert targeted its audience and sent them the message directly, which is the new flavors are only for those who love spicy food, this is why the use of the dragon served the concept to exaggerate the spiciness. 

Also, as we have mentioned earlier, the implementation of the VFX is amazingly done

 

Views And Feedback

The advert received very positive feedback from the viewers.

On YouTube, the advert already passed one million views, and on Facebook, it has 3.8K views. As for the audience’s feedback, we haven’t seen a single comment or tweet disliking the advert, we can say that this is the only advert that almost all people fell in love with.
