You have probably heard by now of the new Instagram application Threads as it became a very trending topic on all social media platforms, especially among Twitter users as the application was launched right after Elon Musk’s decision of limiting the tweets.
If you don’t know the details, we will tell you everything including what to expect from the application and how it is now the number one competitor to Twitter.
What Is Instagram’s New Application Threads?
In a nutshell, Threads is similar to Twitter, you write something and people can reply to it creating a thread.
Yesterday Instagram officially introduced Threads, which is a new application that allows people to have conversations in public. Threads is tied to Instagram, which allows users to import their bio and information from their Instagram profile. The only difference between Threads and Twitter is that Threads doesn’t support Dms and it was said, it will support it if the users ask.
Achieving A Milestone In A Matter of Hours
In only 7 hours, 10 million users were already on Threads.
Once the application was launched, many people including celebrities created accounts and started writing threads and even posted about it on Instagram stories. It didn’t stop at mentioning the application on IG stories, content creators started creating content that revolves around the new application, whether to explain it or to make fun of it.
The application went viral in a very short time, with the 10 million joined users made it top Twitter and Facebook.
Threads Is Officially Twitter’s Rival
Threads was launched right after Elon Musk announced Twitter’s limited tweets.
A couple of days ago Elon Musk announced that Twitter will limit the tweets users read. For verified accounts, they can read up to 6,000 posts per day, unverified accounts 600 posts, and new unverified accounts 300 posts. Users who reach their limit will get a message saying, “Rate limit exceeded”.
Musk said that the limit will soon increase to 10,000 for verified, 1,000 for unverified, and 500 for new unverified.
Ever since Elon Musk bought Twitter, he has been making weird decisions regarding the platform including paying money for verifying the account, which was met with a huge attack.
With Threads taking all the attention from Twitter, it became the number one competitor to the platform.
So, we can’t help but wonder what the two platforms will be introducing in the future.
Copywriters and Content Creators Are Already Complaining
A new platform means new needed content from content creators.
Once the platform was launched, content creators expressed how clients and managers will be asking them for additional content ideas for the new platform, as TikTok wasn’t enough.

It is extremely expected that brands will be running campaigns on Threads but so far, we don’t know what is happening inside the clients’ heads, so we will be waiting till we see how creatives will bring new different ideas to this platform.
When Can Zuckerberg Launch An Actual New Original Feature?
We can’t help but notice that whenever a new platform launches a new feature, Meta instantly copies it.
Frankly, ever since Facebook was launched and took all social media by storm and even made other platforms shut down, it hasn’t exactly presented new ideas, they were all either copied from other platforms or Zuckerberg simply bought the platforms.
Throwback to the time Twitter launched the Hashtags, Facebook launched it right after it and then took the stories option from Snapchat, Reels from TikTok, Jobs from LinkedIn, and now Thread from Twitter.
Aside from Threads is a smart move to compete with Twitter and Elon Musk, the one thing Facebook didn’t succeed at was the ‘Jobs’ section on Facebook as it didn’t exactly achieve what LinkedIn is achieving. Also, so far, Facebook and Instagram Reels can’t fully compete with TikTok as the platform still has its audience.
What To Expect From Threads
So, far users are testing the new application but can it replace Twitter soon?
We can’t help but wonder if Twitter will eventually lose its popularity to Thread or if Threads will just fade out just like many platforms did, such as Clubhouse.
What we know is that users will definitely be on Threads for a while trying to make the best out of it and test every possible feature. The secret is, if Zuckerberg wants the new application to last, he will have to think of more creative features to be added and not just ‘Threads’.
People will look forward to new options that can help them create different types of content.
What we can’t wait for is to see how Elon Musk will reply to this new application and what he can change on Twitter.
