Why You Should Build Trust

You have to know that you can’t call your team a “Team” unless you all trust each other

As we have mentioned earlier, trust is the secret ingredient for any team’s and business’s success. When your team trusts each other and you, they will work comfortably and they will enjoy a healthy work environment that will encourage them to be more productive.

Mutual trust will allow your team to achieve a high level of teamwork and they will always seek to work with each other.

Signs Of Distrust You Can Find

If you don’t know if trust exists, then there are some signs you can look for.

1- No one takes responsibility for their mistakes

2- Delivered tasks are constantly being re-checked

3- Employees come to you whenever they face a problem instead of trying to solve it on their own

4- There are always conflicts between the team members

How To Earn and Build Your Team’s Trust

Keep The Transparency and Truthfulness

This is one of the most essential factors that could build trust among your team.

Being transparent with your team will earn you their trust as your team will want someone to communicate with them and share the good and the bad.

Your team will need someone to give them feedback, and share their concerns with full transparency, and tell them what they exactly need to work on. Also, transparency is not just about feedback, it is also about giving accurate details about the tasks. For example, if there’s a new project coming, as a manager, you have to be honest and transparent about the period this project will take and its importance.

Don’t Order Them, Encourage Them

Motivate your team to do better and improve their skills, don’t boss them around.

Employees need motivation and encouragement to develop, if you boss them around then you won’t get proper results. Your team will feel empowered when they succeed and achieve a milestone for the company and when they realize they share the same dreams and goals as the company.

So, don’t command, instead motivate and tell them how to improve.

Create A Bond Through Collaborations

One of the best ways to ensure your team gets along and trusts each other is pairing them to work together.

To build trust among your team, you can do so by pairing them to work on tasks together. Making your team collaborate with create a healthy team and will enhance their teamwork skills. Also, to make sure all the members are getting along and trusting each other, make sure you always switch pairs every project.

Also, make sure everyone is participating in meetings and brainstorming sessions so they can all feel heard and appreciated.

Give Them Your Trust

Your team won’t trust you and won’t trust themselves unless you trust them.

One of the methods that can help you make your team trust you is avoiding micromanagement; using micromanagement is a very clear sign that you don’t trust your employees to the extent that you need to interfere in every little detail and in every task.

Believe in your team and show them that you have faith in them and in their skills. Showing your team that you trust them and believe in them, will make them trust you and believe in you in return.

Give Feedback And Offer Solutions

Whether your employees have a high or low performance tell them and offer them how to enhance what they have and how to become better.

Employees develop when they’re always offered feedback from their managers; if they’re having a problem let them know and discuss with them how to solve it. If one of the team members needs a work better on their productivity also tell them and if someone is doing a good job appreciate them and offer them ways to achieve more enhancement.

Trust is the core of any entity, it has to be built and never broken as it will always affect the entire business.
