The mobile phone market’s competition grows stiffer with the new launch of Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Vivo in Egypt.

Vivo breaks into the market with the launch of its latest Y series smartphones that combines its AI Triple Camera pro feature with the flagship-standard visual impact of its Halo Full View™ Display.

According to market intelligence analysts and provider, the International Data Corporation (IDC), fellow Chinese brands Huawei, Oppo, and Xiaomi saw the fastest growth in 2018. Alongside data that states that smartphones accounted for 63.8% of the market’s units in 2018, the numbers predict a market that, although are actively looking at more basic feature phones (shipments were up 15.4% in 2018), are still willing to purchase affordable smartphones.

David Qi, CEO of Vivo Egypt, in a press release stated

“Egypt is one of our main markets in the region because of its huge population, in addition to big opportunities to new brands in the Egyptian market. That is why we aim to bring the most innovative products and services to satisfy all Egyptian people, especially the younger generation. Egyptian youth are eager for good-quality new technologies at reasonable prices and we are committed to offering them just that in the smartphone landscape.”

Following through with their claims of commitment to Egypt, the company has already built and opened their first service center in Nasr City.

Vivo’s uniqueness mainly lies in its own branded operating system for the phones called Funtouch OS. Derived from Google’s open-sourced Android OS, Funtouch OS is known for its expanded customization menu and options.

The company has already been working on its awareness in the country, with several online representations. Other than its official Facebook page, Vivo also has a 7K+ “Vivo Fans” or users group.

“The launch of the Y series is just the beginning. We look forward to bringing our other popular products, beyond the Y series, to consumers in the Egyptian market very soon,” said Qi.

Vivo launched models Y15 and Y17 yesterday, with other models Y90 and Y12 to be available in November. The Y15 and Y17 are available on Souq.com and B.Tech’s online stores starting at 3299 EGP.

The Y17 is proclaimed to be “the Go-to Phone for Selfie Lovers and Techies On-the-Go,” while the Y15 is branded as “the Phone Designed for Social and Multimedia Consumers”.

Vivo has over three hundred million users enjoying its mobile products and services around the world. Vivo features offline retail stores in over 1,000 cities worldwide.
