We all know how LinkedIn is considered by many a stage for raw and sometimes messy but undeniable human perspectives when it comes to certain professional angles. However, nowadays, we see a change that has been deemed by many as repetitive. The platform is slowly turning into a playground for prompts that are well-structured. Maybe too perfect or shall I say monotonic to be written by humans? It is a fact that AI tools are helping users craft what we’d call “insightful” posts.
However, this is not perceived by marketers as evolution as much as it feels repetitive. Faster content creation? Yes. Insightful storytelling arcs? Yes. But, and there is a “but” in this, people are starting to sound the same. Very familiar posts are now posted by everyone using the same sentence pattern, question format, and overall look of the post. I’m not deeming this as something that is completely negative; however, it is something worth spotlighting, as it may cause a rift in creativity.
The Copy-Paste Persona Problem
This is when things start to go sideways. It all starts with all of us having access to the same AI tools. Ones that are trained on similar datasets. This is the beginning of the big blur that happens to output. If you scroll carefully, you’ll spot the following patterns:
- The same opening hooks (“I never thought this would happen, but…”)
- The same packaged lessons learned that are written neatly
- The same humble/brag storytelling equation
I’m not saying that the content is bad. However, it is very eerily repetitive. From our marketing perspective, being different is what creates your path towards success. That is, because if everyone sounds “optimized,” no one will tend to stand out. This is when irony intervenes and shows you how the very tool that is meant to amplify voices might be flattening them instead.
Efficiency vs. Authenticity
Allow me to be fair and say how AI has its own rate of incredible efficiency. It helps any busy professional to maintain consistency and achieve their content marketing goal easily. Also, it helps with posting regularly and aligning with personal branding in an easy way. However, this kind of efficiency comes with a certain cost. That cost lies in how authentic are you being? What’s your percentage?
Because nowadays audiences are so sharp with their perceptions. That is why when they start to feel that a certain post is templated, they tend to engage with it less than they used to. Along with this comes the drop in trust. And for a platform that is supposed to share honest and professional credibility… this may be a risk to have.
The Dependency Dilemma
Also something that is worth mentioning would be the dependency dilemma. This is a subtle change that happens underneath the surface. The more users tend to rely on AI in order to frame their ideas, the less they practice their own voice in articulating them independently. And over time? This can cause an issue that can dilute critical thinking and creativity. As a marketer, i’d label this as dangerous territory. That is because your voice is your brand. Outsourcing it entirely, even if it is to something as advanced as AI, can only weaken your positioning.
So… Is It Evolution or Disaster?
It is safe to say that it is neither and both at the same time. Don’t be confused, though. This answer is given, as AI-generated LinkedIn posts are indeed an evolution in content creation. The lower the barrier to entry, the higher the quality of content.
However, if it all goes unchecked, you may then be risking the fact that you’re turning the platform into a room that has the loudest echo in it of the same tones, topics, and way for formatting content.
The real opportunity that you get lies in how much you balance your use of AI along with adding your own tone and spices. And this can only happen by using AI as your ultimate assistant and not a crutch to weight yourself on completely.
