Some people say that you are what you eat! It is important to eat good food to be healthy and fit. We all know that eating healthy is good but what is interesting is knowing that people who eat fruits and vegetables are 93% more likely to be productive at work, based on studies and that workers who ate five or more servings of fruit and vegetables on four or more days in a week were 20% more likely to have higher job performance the week after.

Also, it was discovered by British researchers, that the more fruits and vegetables people ate throughout the day, the happier, more creative, and more productive they were.

Another interesting finding from a team of researchers from the Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO), Brigham Young University and the Center for Health Research suggested that workers who ate healthy and exercised regularly were 25% more likely to have higher job performance and 27% less absenteeism rates than other workers.

5 Foods To Eat To Boost Your Productivity

While working, you constantly need to keep your energy levels high and this is why you need glucose to get the energy you need in your day-to-day life and stay focused. It is hard to focus on an empty stomach because hunger is associated with low levels of glucose.

Dr. Kristina Rother, the NIH pediatrician, says “Glucose is the number one food for the brain, and it’s an extremely important source of fuel throughout the body”.

It is important to know that whenever you eat carbohydrates and sugars they are processed into glucose that goes very fast and leaves you feeling down and sleepy. Sugar-induced fluctuations can potentially reduce your overall productivity by up to 20%, based on research, and this is why you need to choose carefully the type of food you will eat to get a steady source of energy.

High Protein Foods

You can kick-start your day with high-protein foods like eggs, cottage cheese, or Greek yogurt. They will help keep your body functioning properly.

The Good Source of Glucose

Eating a single banana will help you stay productive throughout the day as it is packed with the daily amount of glucose your body needs and will also keep you feeling full for a good time and prevent the distractions that may feel when hungry.

A Healthy Snack to Get Rid of Stress

It is always said that when you’re stressed, chocolate is your best friend. Whenever you feel a bit stressed with the work on your hands, you can take a piece of dark chocolate as it is full of nutrients and caffeine that can give you the right amount of energy to get work done contributing to your work performance. Dark chocolate is also very rich in magnesium so it can help relieve stress and anxiety. Based on the National Institutes of Health (NIH), it is also rich in polyphenols which have been suggested to improve cognitive function.

A Food for A Sustained Energy

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apples are high in fiber has sugars which make them an excellent source of slow-release effective energy. Eating it with protein like a spoon of peanut butter, can be a powerful energy booster.

The Power of Hydration

Water plays a big role in productivity and affects your overall health. The brain is made up of 80% of water, and it highly depends on you staying hydrated. Staying hydrated can improve your mental flexibility and boost your energy levels significantly.

Conclusion:

Greater productivity means you complete more with less time or effort. To enhance your productivity and overall well-being, it is crucial to pay attention to your dietary choices. Several studies have shown that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can significantly improve job performance, creativity, and happiness. Choosing the right type of sugar to consume is also crucial while avoiding too much sweets and too salty food. By making mindful choices about what you eat, you can unlock your full productivity potential.
