With all this positive energy that we have from this month, the past few days, we have seen two events that went extremely viral on all social media platforms. These two events brought out the best in people as almost everyone had very positive comments about them and we were able to see the humane and loving side of people.

The two trending topics are, the cat that climbed on the imam’s shoulder while he was praying and the other one is the Iftar that was held in El-Matareya.

Social Media Trend #1: A Cat Climbs The Imam’s Shoulder

In the last couple of days, a video went viral on all social media platforms, which shows an Imam praying while a cat climbs onto his shoulder and started cuddling him; The Imam gently petted the cat while kept on praying without any disturbance. 

 

 

The video was published by BBC News on its official Twitter account and it received 3.6 million views, 4,491 Retweets and Quoted Retweets, and 25.8K likes.

 

Very Positive Reactions From People

The video received a very positive reaction as people praised the Imam for keeping the prayer and saw the situation as pure kindness. People also kept sharing how Islam is telling us to be kind to everyone and every creature, some even translated what was the Imam reciting. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Social Media Trend #2: The Iconic Matareya Iftar

Last Wednesday a huge Iftar celebration was held in an area called “Ezbet Hamada in El-Matareya” and around 5K people were attending. The event went so viral that every news platform and everyone on social media talked about it.

This is not the first time for people in el Matareya to have this Iftar, in fact, this has been going on since 2012.

 

 

These 5K attendees included a very important visit made by the South Korean Ambassador Hong Jin-wook. A young man invited the ambassador to join the Iftar and the ambassador accepted the invitation and decided to fast and have Iftar with them so he can properly spend the day there and celebrate with the people. 

Later that day, the ambassador posted on his official Facebook and Twitter account a video of the time he spent there and wrote “Ramadan in Egypt is Something else”. 

 

 

 

Let’s See What People Have Been Saying About The Event

People’s feedback was beyond amazing, there was no single person or platform that didn’t speak about the Iftar. 

The word “المطرية”/ “El-Matareya” was mentioned many times and it was not just mentioned by Egyptians, in fact, the whole event was the talk of everyone in the Arab region.
