Uber announces the launch of “Schedule a Ride”, which now adds pre-ride booking to the application. The ride-sharing app has been built on the ride on-demand feature, giving people the freedom of requesting a ride whenever they need one within Cairo and Alexandria. The feature has been greatly valued for the past 6 years.
Continuing the path of providing convenience to its riders, Uber has now launched the feature “Schedule a Ride” allowing riders to arrange a pickup in advance. The rides can be scheduled from 15 minutes to 30 days in advance with just a few taps to choose the preferred pickup time, date, location, and destination.
“We understand that each person has a different daily routine, which is why we continue to expand our services to be able to meet the majority’s demands. Whether you need a ride to the airport at 4 A.M. or to pick your children up from school at 3 P.M., being able to schedule a ride is a crucial feature to many riders. Adding to the convenience of the feature, “Schedule a Ride” works at no additional cost, and we consider it a regular UberX request – just adding the freedom of time and date to it”, expressed Anthony Khoury, General Manager, Uber Egypt.
Uber driver ElSayed Haroun agrees that this feature has been the most popular feature. “We [drivers] received a lot of questions by riders, asking if a ride-scheduling feature will launch, and it finally has. “Schedule a Ride” will make the pickup request process smoother for the rider, and if I, for example, am available at the time and date of the scheduled pickup, I’ll definitely accept the ride.”

With 30,000 drivers on board, the most-recent announced number of active drivers per month, Uber is working on balancing its riders’ demands and needs while providing more opportunities for its drivers. The “Schedule a Ride” is launched based on popular demand, and at no additional cost.
