Over the past few years, many people used the marketplace Jobs on Facebook either to get a job or to hire employees; in fact, this was a great option added by Meta and it helped many people around the world. Candidates and employers could easily find what they have been looking for using this option.

Unfortunately, the Facebook Jobs will no longer exist by the end of this month!

This news came very disappointingly as many people depended on this feature instead of going to hiring websites and even LinkedIn!

So, with this option gone, what do you think is going to happen?

Meta Removes “Jobs” From Facebook

Starting from the 22nd of February, the Jobs section will be permanently removed from Facebook.

This feature will be shut down outside of The United States and Canada, which means that Canadians and Americans can still use this it.

Here’s what you need to know

  • Existing Facebook Groups with a “Jobs” group type will be changed to the “General” group type and the “Jobs” group type will no longer be available.
  • The ability to distribute free jobs via a partner integration with the Jobs on Facebook API will no longer be available.
  • Jobs on Facebook will no longer be available on the Facebook Lite app or Facebook mobile website (m.facebook.com/jobs) for both employers and seekers.
  • The Jobs on Facebook browser will no longer be available.

The Effect of The Removal On Employers

Could this affect the business and the hiring process?

The ‘Jobs’ feature made the search for candidates a lot easier; in fact, it helped many employers hire employees. Companies didn’t have to post about a vacancy or worry if the post will be seen or not.

Removing this feature might make it difficult for companies to reach proper candidates as this feature made it easier to target whoever is interested in the vacancy.

Removing ‘Jobs’ might slow the hiring process, which can affect the business if it needs immediate hiring.

Will Employees Be Affected?

Many employees found these current jobs thanks to Jobs, so how this removal could affect them?

The ‘Jobs’ feature made finding a job a lot easier, you could specify the type of job you’re interested in and you will get a notification every time a company is hiring. So, this feature didn’t just make it easier for employers, it made it easier for employees as well. In fact, you wouldn’t know that certain companies were hiring if it weren’t for ‘Jobs’

So, we expect that this change will definitely affect employees who are searching for another job.

What You Can Do As An Employer and Employee

There are some ways that could help you instead of ‘Jobs’.

For employers, you can start posting your vacancies on your social media platforms, like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram as you used to and boost it, and you can also use the hiring websites as many people will start using it now after the removal of this feature.

Another thing you can do is post your vacancies on Facebook groups; you can find many Facebook groups dedicated to marketing, HR, Content Writing, etc. You can choose a group and post your vacancy so it can be seen by a wide range of people.

As for employees, it will definitely be harder as you will now have to do it manually. Whoever is looking for a job now has to search and check every company if it is hiring; employees can also search for groups dedicated to their type of jobs and always check for updates.

You can also post that you’re looking for a certain title and wait for employers to reach you.

Unfortunately, everything will back to basics when it comes to finding a job or a candidate.
