Roma attacker Mohamed Salah faces a six-week spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle injury in Rome Derby over Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. The Bosnian’s player Senad Lulic tackle on the Egyptian beloved player angered the Giallorossi coach who said that players need to be protected by referees but the injury angered the Egyptians even more.

The Egyptian international featured from the start but was taken off on a stretcher just before the hour mark following a challenge from Lazio’s Senad Lulic.

Bosnia international Senad Lulic took to social media this evening to apologise in 4 different languages for the challenge and make the point that it was unintentional.

“Football is a game where you win and sometimes you lose,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“True athletes never take aim at someone to harm them and I didn’t want to hurt Salah.”

“I wish Salah a speedy recovery from injury.”

“I am sorry for your injury Mohamed Salah; it was not my intention to hurt you. I hope to see you soon back on the field,” he added

“Mohamed Salah has undergone medical tests this morning after being forced off with an ankle injury in the 58th minute of last night’s derby win over Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico following a challenge from Senad Lulic,” a statement on the club’s website reads.
