Lionel Messi has postponed his trip to Cairo as he was supposed to attend on Wednesday. The Argentine professional footballer has scheduled a lightning visit to Egypt to appear in a campaign combating Hepatitis C.

The idea was not to return with the team after playing PSG in Paris and instead to take a flight to Cairo. However after the club’s 4-0 defeat he decided to change his plans. He cancelled his appearance and flew back to Barcelona to train with his team-mates.

Barcelona was heavily defeated 4-0 by Paris St Germain on Tuesday in the match under Europe’s Champions League.

In a statement, Prime Pharma Inc. called on the media to understand the superstar’s obligations toward Barcelona fans around the world, stressing that Messi is a key partner in the Tour’n’Cure Global Campaign for the treatment of Hepatitis C.

The statement added that preparations for the visit would be temporarily halted until a new date for the visit is set.
