Jumia Egypt announces the launch of Black Friday this month providing customers more deals than ever before, in all shopping categories, officially marking the start of the seasonal countdown. With the current shopping trends decreasing in the market due to prices rising, Jumia aims to give back to Egyptians with unprecedented discounts. For the first time in 4 years, the leading e-commerce platform will offer discounts for 12 days leaving their customers discovering the best deals on the most sought-after products in the market.

Shoppers will be offered exclusive deals and discounts of up to 70% including electronic devices, home and living products, fashion, service deals, sport products and toys.

Jumia’s vast coverage of last year’s Black Friday broke records with sales increases of over 5 times the normal daily sales in the first hour, selling over 33,000 orders overall. Products were selling out within a few hours, which consisted of electronics and health and beauty items.

Jumia Egypt’s CEO, Hesham Safwat aims to surpass customers’ expectations with exclusive deals this year. “We understand that consumers in Egypt have faced a rough year with the currency instability. With customer satisfaction at our top priority, Black Friday this year lasting 12 days will provide more people with the opportunity to shop high quality products with a wide variety of options”.

The leading e-commerce platform advises consumers to research in advance on their favorite products, and place them on their wish list to prepare for the discounts. For convenience you can receive your order at your door step, or at a pickup station near you. The platform will continue to post updates on its social media platforms to inform fans of the daily exclusive pop-up sale which will be published spontaneously by the company for the duration of one hour only per day.

To celebrate the expected success this year, Jumia launched training sessions attended by more than 250 sellers in the market. The objective of the event was to align companies on Jumia’s primary goals to deliver the best service to customers shopping on Black Friday. Customers in Egypt are now anticipating the exciting offers online in time for Black Friday to commence to purchase their favorite products.

About Black Friday

The “Black Friday” originated from the U.S. and from the phenomenon that takes place after the day of thanksgiving when retailers see a pike in sales. The day became the biggest shopping day of the year with retailers offering discounts and special deals. Now, “Black Friday” is a global movement and Africans search for the best deals and discounts they would otherwise not get on a regular day.
