Chocolate, something that most people (if not all) crave from time to time. Sad? Eat chocolate and your dopamine levels will increase. Happy? Eat chocolate and you’ll be even happier. However, international Chocolate Day isn’t just about cravings; it’s also a celebration of how some brands have beautifully packaged joy, nostalgia, and emotion into something as small as a chocolate bar.

Let me just state that if there is one industry out there that knows how to master emotion, elegance, and impact, it would be the chocolate marketing industry. From The Middle East to the UK, I’ve got you covered with the best campaigns created. Here are some of the most memorable chocolate ad campaigns that stood the test of time and eventually taste as well.

Cadbury’s Birthday Campaign UK

Everybody loves a certain Cadbury bar. However, there is that one campaign that was released by Cadbury UK. This ad highlights how a simple act of kindness can make someone’s day. A child buying her mother a bar of chocolate as a birthday gift without having money to pay the shopkeeper and paying him with her most precious belongings, like a small unicorn figure, is something that makes this campaign of great value. All because the slogan for Cadbury says, “There’s a glass and a half in everyone.”

KitKat Canada AI Break Campaign

Talk about creativity? Well, we all know how KitKat’s “Have a break, have a KitKat” slogan is one of a kind. However, with the rise of AI, KitKat knew exactly how to hijack the trend through crafting a campaign that shows people how AI is even more efficient when you ask it to take a break. This is smart brand positioning that shows how the team understood their assignment. Yes, we can all feel drained at times, and chocolate could be the best fuel someone needs to take a break. Who knew AI bots would be even more efficient as well when you type “please take a break” and then continuing on writing your prompt to them?

Snickers Crisper Arabia: A Confatic (Confused + Dramatic) Climber

A man holding on to dear life on a cliff just to know that he is actually lying on the ground and screaming for nothing? That is one ad that ensured we all laugh when we see it. It simply nails the “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” vibe, delivering quirky, relatable humor that boosts Snickers’ global charm.

Snickers SuperBowl 2016 Chocolate USA Ad

Snickers crushed it at Super Bowl 50 with a 2016 ad that’s marketing genius! Willem Dafoe, hilariously hangry as Marilyn Monroe in that iconic Seven Year Itch dress, gripes over a subway grate until a Snickers transforms him into the real, glamorous Marilyn. BBDO New York’s 30-second spot, spiked with Eugene Levy’s snarky cameo, used slick digital effects to nail the brand’s “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” vibe. A cheeky NYC billboard later swapped Marilyn’s face for Dafoe’s, keeping the ironic ad alive.

Final Thoughts

Chocolate has always been a part of our daily lives, something that makes our days sweeter. It can be used for celebrating people, enhancing moods, mending bonds, and more. In honor of International Chocolate Day, let us know what your favorite chocolate is and if there are any ads that have stuck with you over the years.
