Using AI has become very common in writing and creating content these days. Students, writers, bloggers, and content creators use AI tools to generate ideas, write drafts, create article outlines, or summarize information. This can save a lot of time when it comes to finishing similar tasks.

AI can make content creation faster and easier, especially when dealing with writer’s block or tight deadlines.

However, some people rely completely on AI without changing anything about the outcome. Depending entirely on AI weakens the quality of written content. Articles that are copied directly from AI often sound unnatural and too formal. What people need to know is that AI is a helpful tool and a trusted resource.

Here’s how to use AI if you want to create written content.

Don’t Just Copy and Paste, Humanize It

One of the most common mistakes people make when using AI is copying the generated text exactly as it is. Readers can tell the difference between AI-generated content and content that is written by a human. AI tends to use certain words that make the writing robotic and emotionless, unlike the choice of words by a person.

What you can do as a content writer/writer is edit the generated text. You have to put your own touch and humanize the text to make it more human-generated, not AI-generated.

Changing sentence structure, wording, and simplifying phrases can make the article sound more human.

The final version should feel like it’s written by a person, not a machine.

Research Before You Use It

AI tools are not always accurate. Sometimes they generate false information, outdated facts, or misleading statements. Researching before using AI will help you notice the wrong information and will also enable you to provide the correct information.

Due to these mistakes, writers should never publish AI-generated content without checking the information first, as it can be wrong and it can be plagiarized.

It is important to verify all the information that AI provides, such as dates, names, and historical events, through reliable sources. AI can help speed up the writing process, but it cannot fully replace proper research.

To get a well-written piece of content from AI, you have to provide it with the information you want to be included. Therefore, research has to be done before using AI to write any piece of content.

Provide the Base and the Right Prompt

AI works better when it receives clear instructions. A weak or unclear prompt often produces weak results. If writers want useful content, they should explain exactly what they need before generating text.

AI is all about the smallest detail; think of it as a little kid that needs all the information to understand something. Therefore, when you write a prompt to the AI, make sure you mention everything from the idea to how you want each paragraph to present.

For example, instead of telling it to write an article about marketing, you should specify which type of marketing, the tone, the structure of the article, what idea each paragraph should talk about, and the main points.  Giving AI a clear direction helps create more organized and relevant content. Good prompts usually lead to better writing results.

Use It to Create an Outline

Many writers struggle with organizing their thoughts before they begin writing. AI can be very useful during the planning stage because it can quickly generate outlines and structure ideas into sections.

Planning the outline and the structure of a piece of writing takes a long time, and if you’re working on a task that has a deadline, this can consume a lot of time. This is why using AI in such cases is beneficial.

You can provide all the information to the tool and ask it to create an outline and the best structure that you can use to write the article. This makes the writing process easier while still allowing the writer to develop the content personally.

Use AI as a Tool, Not a Replacement

AI is designed to assist writers, not replace them completely. Human creativity, emotions, experiences, and critical thinking are what make a piece of writing interesting; AI can’t imitate these skills. AI can generate words quickly, but it cannot fully understand human experiences or create truly personal perspectives.

Writers and content writers use AI to support and to save time, but the final result is completely theirs, and they’re the ones who control it.

Use AI to Overcome Writer’s Block

One of the biggest advantages of AI tools is their ability to help writers when they feel stuck. Sometimes starting to write is the hardest part; writing an introduction is not as easy as it seems, especially if the idea isn’t 100% clear. This is when AI is a major help.

AI tools can suggest hooks and tips on how to start the introduction. It can also help generate topic ideas, opening paragraphs, headlines, or different angles for the same subject.

Using AI during these situations can make the process easier and less stressful. However, these suggestions should be used as inspiration rather than relying on them or using them as they are.

The goal of this is to trigger creativity, not replace it.

AI tools have made the writing process easier and faster than before. It can help with brainstorming, it can be used as a thesaurus, editor, or inspiration source. Yet, it can’t be completely relied on, or it will slowly kill creativity and reduce the quality of work.

Therefore, writers should carefully use AI and control it, not let it control them.
