After 25 years, we will officially say our goodbyes next year for Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer was almost the very first browser we all used when we used to surf the internet back in the late 90s and early 2000s.
To be completely frank, the browser is a huge part of our childhood and almost everyone has many memories related to it.
Today Microsoft announced that in August 2021 it would end supporting Internet Explorer 11.
The Journey of Internet Explorer Has Come To An End
In an official announcement today, Microsoft stated that on the 30th of November 2020 the Microsoft team web will no longer support IE 11 and on the 11th of August 2021 all the Microsoft 365 apps and services will stop supporting the Internet Explorer 11.
Microsoft has released another browser back in 2015 called Microsoft Edge browser, this will be the replacement of Internet Explorer and the company will add the explorer legacy mode on this Edge browser that has Chromium so the users of IE 11 can transfer to the other browser easily.
So, Enterprise customers will be able to access all the sites that were built especially for Internet Explorer until Microsoft decides to stop supporting EI 11 within Windows 10.
The new Edge browser will be the only browser as Microsoft will also end the other version of Edge that does not have Chromium on the 9th of March 2021.

Chromium is a free and open-source software project from Google. The source code can be compiled into a web browser. Google uses the code to make its Chrome browser, which has more features than Chromium. Many other browsers are also based on Chromium code, most notably Microsoft Edge and Opera.
Is Killing Internet Explorer The right Choice?
It has been a really long time since people have made a lot of complaints about Internet Explorer. There was a time when the browser was extremely slow that had everyone making fun of how slow it is and even created memes representing the browser with a person that figures everything out when it is already outdated.
Also, ever since Google Chrome was released, almost everyone has been using it and depending on it since it is supported by Google and is linked to every google account you create.
The Age of Edge
With the new Edge browser replacing Internet Explorer, we wonder if it will be as good as the other browsers and if it will be able to steal the thunder from Google Chrome since it will include Chromium and will have even more features than Google Chrome.
