Clubs with the most powerful social media following are joining forces on the new football social media website. Dugout has partnered with 27 clubs as well as players and influencers to offer football fans exclusive behind-the-scenes original content on one platform. Clubs including Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Cheslea and Bayern Munich are some of the clubs that have agreed to take part.
Dugout.com, has signed partnerships with more than 150 players including Gareth Bale, Alexis Sanchez, Edinson Cavani, Joe Hart and Neymar, launches globally on Monday in eight languages.
Clubs will encourage their star players to launch their own pages on the site, and will post off-pitch and lifestyle content there before they do so on any other digital platform.
The football Social Media network will be free for new users, with the clubs given equity in the business “in return for club and player access and regular weekly content”.
Dugout executives are said to have told clubs that growing interest in European football in Asia can be effectively exploited through mobile platforms. Dugout will be run by James Hilton and Elliot Richardson, two executives with sports and communications experience.
