Majid Al Futtaim’s City Centre Almaza has announced an unprecedented opportunity for young Egyptian talents in a press conference on July 19: a scholarship named Fashion Flair at one of the world’s oldest and most acclaimed international fashion schools, ESMOD Beirut!

The press conference was followed by a marvellous activation that featured prominent celebrities and fashion icons, fashion shows, and a variety of entertainment.

Registration opened to the public on the same day of the announcement, July 19, and a total of 30 scholarships will be awarded to rising local designers from Egypt.

The 30 chosen candidates will subsequently be announced on August 15 and invited to attend the certification classes led by ESMOD Beirut’s leading instructors from August 21 – September 15.

Finally, the top three students win a trip to Beirut, which will include a visit to ESMOD Beirut’s campus for a three-day fashion design workshop, in addition to an exhibition space within City Centre Almaza to display their products.

The event featured a variety of entertainment and fashion shows.

Focusing on Career Advancement: Blending Fashion Creation and Business Education

The scholarship’s courses cover fashion design, pattern making, styling, and image consulting.

This golden opportunity emerged from City Centre Almaza and ESMOD Beirut’s keenness to offer Egyptian talents a platform to chase their dreams and practically advance their careers, particularly in the world of fashion.

Education for Employment – Egypt (EFEE)—a non-profit dedicated to empowering youth with demand-driven skills that lead to employment, dignity, and hope—was also present at the event. They’ll be playing a key role in enriching the youngsters’ fashion education with a necessary entrepreneurship course to further support their career advancement journey.

The Vision Behind the Scholarship

During the press conference, Rasha Azab, Managing Director of West Region Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim Properties elaborated on the partnership’s vision: “At City Centre Almaza, and across all of our properties, we are constantly looking for new ways to identify, empower, and support young Egyptian talents.” She further added: “We hope to continue providing a platform and a space for the incredible talent and potential we have here in Egypt, helping the youth kick-start careers in their fields of choice.”

Margarita Kauk, Communications Manager at ESMOD Beirut at the press conference.

Margarita Kauk, Communications Manager at ESMOD Beirut represented the prestigious international fashion school at the event. “We are more than happy to share our knowledge and expertise with Egypt’s young talents and with its people that share the same passion and love for fashion design and are looking to build a career in the industry,” she gladly stated.

She then added: “Egypt plays a crucial role in the fashion industry in the region and is well-known in the fashion world for its large scale of production. We are proud to be supporting this initiative and we are looking forward to this fruitful collaboration.”

The launch of Fashion Flair was attended by some of Egypt’s finest celebrities and prominent fashion designers. These included Fifi Abdou, Rania Mansour, Nabila Ebeid, and many more!
