As we are now on the third day of Ramadan, we are aware that everyone is probably struggling with work during fasting. People tend to have a hard time focusing and being productive during fasting as their energy decreases especially on the first days of Ramadan.
Throughout the whole month, this struggle will slightly decrease but there are some things that you can do that can help you cope with the circumstances, gain your focus and be productive.
The holy month of Ramadan is the perfect chance to help you adopt a healthy lifestyle, which will help you during the month and even after.
So, here are some steps that you can follow to have better fasting days.
1- Organize Your Tasks and Schedule
Don’t go to work without knowing what you will be working on, you will feel lost and overwhelmed when you start working.
Always plan your day and how you will be working; organize your tasks according to their priority and start with the most important one as you will be having the energy for it. Also, create a schedule and don’t overload yourself with work; just focus on what’s urgent and start working on it.
2- Don’t Multitask
Focus on one thing at a time; multitasking will make you miss important details.
When you try to do more than one task at the same time, you will mess them both up! Multitasking will distract you and you might even confuse the two tasks together. So, to help you stay focused, work on one task at a time and give it the time it needs to finish without making mistakes as the lack of focus will make you make them.
3- Set Your Working Hours
Try to work as early as possible because as the day goes by your energy will start to fade.
At the beginning of the day, you will have energy so it’s better to start working so you can finish the urgent and difficult tasks first, especially your meetings, work calls, etc. Prioritizing your work and organizing it will also help you start early and finish early without having to deal with decreased energy.
4- Eliminate Distractions
To help stay focused, stay away from anything that could distract you.
People can be easily distracted by noise or smartphones as they always check their them during work to check their social media platforms; this will waste the time, especially since working hours in Ramadan are less than any normal working day; so, you’ll end up working under stress to be able to finish on time!
What you can do is mute your phone and you can use a certain app that locks your applications for a certain amount of time until you finish your tasks.
Also, if the noise is distracting you, choose a quiet room to work in so you can focus.
5- Meditate Throughout The Day
Meditation can help you focus and freshen you up.
When you meditate, your body will be in a calm state, which will help you stay focused. There are some meditation techniques that can help you have a clear and aware mind such as mindful breathing.
You can look for mobile applications or videos that teach you how to meditate.
6- Eat Healthy Food
There are some types of food that can help you hydrated and stay focused.
You should try to have nuts as they have high levels of Omega 3, which are vital for the brain’s cognitive functions; they also contain copper, manganese, zinc, and selenium. Some studies also stated that eating nuts can improve your mood.
To be able to stay hydrated and focused, you have to eat a lot of fruits like Apples, Apricots, Blueberries, Blackberries, Cherries, Peaches, Pears, Plums, Oranges, and Melons. Also, some vegetables can also help you follow a healthy lifestyle during Ramadan, like Carrots, Broccoli, Tomatoes, Cauliflower, and Green beans.
Add fish to your food as fish like Salmon and Tune have omega 3 fatty acids and DHA, which will help in improving memory and enhance your concentration.
7- It’s Time To Cut The Bad Habits Once and For All
Many people use this month to detox themselves from unhealthy habits.
Many people complain about not being able to smoke or having enough amount of caffeine; this is a bad habit! Caffeine is allowed but with a decent amount but too much caffeine will definitely have a bad effect.
So, instead of getting a cup of coffee right after Iftar on daily basis, you can replace it with something else, like Green Tea or dark chocolate as they don’t have strong caffeine like coffee.
Also, some people use Ramadan to quit smoking, which is one of the perfect chances, because you can’t smoke during fasting.
Use fasting as a kind of detoxing from all the bad habits you are used to before Ramadan, including eating junk and unhealthy food.
